13/05/2009 - INCREASE IN SICK AND MATERNITY PAY
As of 6 April, Maternity and Paternity Pay has been increased to £123.06 per week (from £117.18 ) and Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) was raised to £79.15 ( £75.40 ) - only available to those who earn £90.00 per week or more.
 

30/04/2009 - ACAS Code of Practice
As of 6th April 2009, the three stage disciplinary and grievance procedure is abolished. Employment tribunals will now take the new ACAS Code of Pracice into account when considering claims. Where an employment tribunal finds that an employer or employee unreasonably failed to comply with the Code, an uplift or reduction of up to 25% of any award can be imposed.
 

30/04/2009 - PAID HOLIDAY
As of 6th April 2009, the minimum paid holiday entitlement(under the Working Time Regulations) increases to 5.6 weeks per year. This includes public holidays. This means that an employee who works 5 days per week is entitled to 28 days holiday. If an employee recieves four weeks holiday plus the usual 8 public holidays, the new entitlemnt will be met.
 

06/12/2007 - MATERNITY LEAVE FROM 5TH OCTOBER 2008
Women whose babies are due after 5th October 2008 are now entitled to the same terms and conditions during additional maternity leave as they enjoy during ordinary maternity leave. This means that the same terms and conditions that would apply to them had they been at work will continue to apply to them throughtout their additional maternity leave period. All pregnant employees are entitled to 26 weeks ordinary maternity leave and a further 26 weeks additional maternity leave (which follows on directly after ordinary maternity leave).
